Childhood Friend Heroine V1 Epilogue

Epilogue

The day after the incident, Lily and Saito finally met at school, well after lunch break had passed.

“Good afternoon, Saito-kun.”

“Good afternoon, Lily.”

The reason for their late arrival was simple—they had spent the morning at the police station, answering another round of questions about the previous day’s events.

As Lily set down her bag, her gaze fell upon Haruki, who had accompanied them to school. He was currently being crushed in a tight embrace by his childhood friend, Mizuki, and his upperclassman, Koyuki.

“I’m so glad you’re okay, Haruki!” Mizuki cried, her voice filled with relief.

“I was really worried about you! Honestly!” Koyuki added, squeezing him just as tightly.

“Whoa!? Hey, you two are squeezing too tight! My bones are creaking!” Haruki yelped in distress.

A small giggle escaped Lily’s lips as she watched her ex-boyfriend’s predicament with a hint of satisfaction.

“Hehe,” she chuckled softly.

“Thinking of joining in?” Saito teased from behind her, a smirk evident in his tone. “He did save you, after all.”

Saito’s jest was likely fueled by the rumors that had been circulating around the school. While Lily had been the one to ultimately resolve the incident by restraining Makabe, her involvement had been brief before a teacher took over. As a result, few students knew that Lily, the one who had been attacked, was also the one who had subdued her assailant.

This information vacuum gave rise to a flurry of speculation. Given Lily’s stunning looks and Haruki’s reputation for heroism—having previously saved Koyuki and Mizuki from a car accident and a near-drowning—a false narrative began to spread. The rumor mill churned out a story where Haruki had defeated Makabe, and as a result of his bravery, Lily had fallen for him and joined his ever-growing harem.

In her first life, the essence of those rumors, if not the specifics, would have been true. After the incident, she had indeed found herself in the orbit of Haruki, Mizuki, and Koyuki, and she could say with certainty that she had been one of the main heroines in his harem before the time leap.

But this time was different.

“There’s no way I’d do that,” she replied, dismissing Saito’s joke with an exasperated sigh. “Because—”

This time, Lily had been the one to resolve the incident. Haruki hadn’t helped her in the slightest, and there was absolutely nothing that would make her fall for him. Besides, she knew the truth about Haruki—that he was a cheating scumbag—and she would never, for all eternity, see him as a romantic interest. Joining his harem was completely out of the question.

And more importantly, Lily had already found him.

The one she truly wanted to be a heroine for.

Her wonderful childhood friend, her hero, who had painted over her gray world with vibrant colors all those years ago.

“—Because I’m Saito’s childhood friend and main heroine,” she declared, turning to him with a radiant smile. “There’s no way I’d ever leave your side.”

Saito’s eyes widened in surprise before he let out an exasperated laugh.

“You’re such an idiot,” he said, shaking his head. “Talk like that, and you’ll never get a boyfriend.”
