Childhood Friend Heroine V2 Afterword
Afterword
Hey there, it’s been a while. 3pu Sleep here.
I’m so happy we could meet again like this.
This is all thanks to everyone who purchased Volume 1.
Please allow me to express my gratitude here.
Thank you so much! (Seriously, I’m grateful)
Now then, I thought I’d talk a bit about this work again.
First off, the main theme of this second volume is Saito’s change.
This was actually pretty tough and gave me a hard time, haha.
Saito as a character is fundamentally true to his emotions—if he dislikes something, he says he dislikes it. If he likes something, he clearly says he likes it.
That’s what makes him great, and it’s also what drew Lily to him.
However, this purity of his really gave me trouble.
The “like” that Saito expresses is undoubtedly a genuine “like.”
But there are different types of “like”—affection, friendship, romantic love, and so on—and Saito doesn’t categorize them within himself.
Because of that, Saito’s “like” is the lightest among all the characters in this story.
In contrast, the “like” woven by characters like Lily, Koyuki, Takumi, Haruki, and Mizuki is heavy.
Through interacting with them, Saito comes to understand, just a little bit, the meaning of the word “like” and who it’s directed toward.
It was a volume where Saito got just a tiny bit closer to becoming an adult.
That said, it really is just a tiny bit, so Lily’s probably gonna keep getting swept along by him, haha.
Hang in there, Lily.
Now then, next I thought I’d talk about the time leaper-related stuff.
First of all, let me just say this—these guys are ALL a pain in the ass!
Lily’s still a chicken when it matters just like before the time leap, Haruki’s indecisive yet weirdly resolute about strange things, and Koyuki jumps to conclusions like crazy—they were seriously such a hassle.
Since I’m more of a Saito-type person myself, I felt this way even more strongly.
These guys made the story way too complicated!
But that’s also part of this work’s charm, so I did my best writing it.
By the way, Koyuki and Takumi ended things on a really good note, but the two of them aren’t dating yet. I mean, c’mon, Koyuki’s not the type of girl who’d switch over right away just ’cause Haruki rejected her and Takumi confessed to her.
She’ll probably agonize and struggle with the desire to rely on someone mixed with guilt and whatnot, and then arrive at Koyuki’s own answer.
I’d be happy if you could pay attention to her and the others’ movements going forward.
Also, how many time leapers are there?
Why are they time leaping in the first place?
I hope you’ll look forward to things like that as well.
Finally, once again I’m deeply grateful to Editor A-san and illustrator Bcoca-san.
Thank you so much for listening to my concerns and drawing such wonderful illustrations.
Thank you so much! (Seriously seriously grateful!)
If there’s a next time, I look forward to working with you again.
Well then, that’s all for now, so bye-bye!
See you later. (Let’s definitely meet again!)
